BRISTOL, R.I. – A distinguished historian with more than than 20 years of experience in educational activity and authoritative leadership roles at Roger Williams University, Jeffrey Meriwether has been selected as the side by side dean of the Feinstein Schoolhouse of Humanities, Arts and Teaching (SHAE).

Meriwether holds bachelor's and master'due south degrees in history from Western Washington Academy and a history Ph.D. from the University of Exeter, specializing in British military studies.
He arrived at RWU in 2001, where he has taught history for 21 years and worked for five years in administration as acting dean and associate dean of the School of Humanities, Arts and Education, associate dean of the School of Social and Natural Sciences, and assistant dean for operations of the Feinstein College of Arts and Sciences. Across these roles, he has worked with deans on academic planning, led meaning growth in the summer and winter bookish programming, improved student evolution and retention, served as chair of the Department of History and American Studies and every bit assistant director of the University Honors Program.
